Carpet cleaning business
I have never really liked working one job for very long. It is not that I don’t have a good work ethic. I love to work hard, because it takes my mind off of other things. It is simply that I get bored with having the same routine day in and day out. Instead, I like to piece together lots of different odd jobs to make ends meet. I have a vending business, do a little bit of tutoring on the side, and a few other things when I get a chance. Recently, I read a book about how to start a carpet cleaning business. It seemed like the perfect gig. The work was easy, the jobs were quick, and the money was pretty reasonable. All in all, clean carpets seems like it would be a cinch. I had no idea what I was really getting into.
The problem with starting a carpet cleaning business was that I picked a very poor partner. I have a good friend who has always wanted to get into business with me. We get along flawlessly, but we had never had any financial dealings together before. I thought the carpet cleaning business was the perfect chance for us to try it out. It couldn’t have gone any worse. He had some experience with carpet installation, so I figured that he could take the lead. He said he knew all about carpet cleaning businesses, and he sounded pretty convincing. I didn’t realize that he was full of it. He did not know what he was doing.
I have tried many business ventures, and some of them have done better than others. Nonetheless, nothing I have tried has failed as quickly as that carpet cleaning business. Our very first job, we had a major meltdown. Apparently, the carpet cleaning business was harder than we expected. The carpet that we were called to clean, you see, could only be treated with certain chemicals. The industrial carpet cleaner we were using completely ruined the carpet.
This could have been one minor setback in our carpet cleaning business except that we handled it very badly. We immediately got into a big fight about it. My friend, despite the fact that he told me that the cleaner we were using was alright, decided that it was all my fault. We fought back and forth about who was ruining our carpet cleaning business. In the end, however, we had to go our separate ways.
